He smiled a little to himself and brushed a lock of her hair from her forehead. “I wish you could see what I see,” he told her.
“What do you see?”

Her eyes were wet as she looked back at him. “You think so?”
She was leaning in towards him as she asked. He could smell the delicate scent of her body. Her thigh was soft against his knee as she bent towards him, looking at him with trust and yearning that he hadn’t seen directed at him in a long, long time.
